I absolutely love Valentine's Day. It is just so much fun! Jason and I don't go crazy with it, but it is an extra special day where I can just feel the love in the air. I love that. So, I thought I better get more sewing practice while making some fun Valentine's Day pillows for the bench. The pillows that are always there were looking a little lonely after the Merry Christmas pillow went away so I made them some new friends for the next month.
I used my favorite muslin fabric for the pillows. I cut a big red felt heart for one and hand stitched it right on top with white thread. For the other, I used my trusty iron-on transfer paper to print out the word "love" in red. Anyone could make these pillows. Really. They are super easy especially if you use Heat 'n Bond to close them up!
In order to make these pillows even cheaper and a little "green", I used an idea that I read about somewhere in this world wide web about using plastic bags for stuffing. These pillows are simply decorative and will not be used to sleep on or anything so I went to my handy dandy plastic bag keeper (made by my Mom) and got out my stuffing...
It was fun putting those bags to good use...

And there she is...

And there they are together at last...

Avery loves Valentine's Day as much as I do so she was very excited about these pillows. She especially loves the red felt heart one. Now instead of asking us "How many days until Christmas?" she is asking "How many days until Valentine's Day?" a couple hundred times a day. Her excitement for life is seriously contagious...

Great pillow, you give me hope that I'll be able to make my own Valentine's Day pillow. I want to make a little one that will be a door hanger. I LOVE Valentine's Day...it is by far my favorite.
